A Decade of Adventure

Ten years ago today, Alto took his first leap into the world — and what a journey it’s been since!

Alto’s Adventure first launched on iOS on the 19th of February 2015. It was just three days before our founder, Harry Nesbitt’s 28th birthday. At the time, he’d spent the last two years working as the game’s sole artist and developer, having no prior experience in the industry (you can read more on his blog!)

However, what started as a labour of love quickly grew into something far bigger than he or anyone else could have guessed. The game rapidly reached universal acclaim, and led to some incredible opportunities, such as growing the team, developing the BAFTA-nominated sequel Alto’s Odyssey, and ultimately the founding of our studio, Land & Sea.

Since then, we’ve had the chance to revisit the world of Alto in many new ways, from bringing special editions to Apple Arcade to seeing the game reach players across many different platforms.

And most recently, we announced Summerhill, our next project as a studio — a brand new adventure that we can’t wait to share with you.

A Shared Journey

Over the years, we’ve been humbled by the stories you’ve shared — how Alto’s Adventure became a source of calm in difficult times, a ritual before bed, or even a shared experience between parents and their children. It’s been incredible to see the impact a little game about the joy of movement and the changing landscape can have.

From that first trip down the mountain to everything that has followed, this journey has been shaped as much by you, our players, as it has by us. As we celebrate this milestone, we just want to say thank you — for playing, for sharing, and for supporting us.

Here’s to ten years of adventure, and many more to come. We can’t wait to show you what’s next!
